Using the Just One Look Method
When the looking has occurred with success - and with the current of acidic fear and the Schopenhauerian / Buddhist life-negation departed, does one not end up in the affirmation of life that Nietzsche so triumphantly spoke of?
My formula for greatness in a human being is amor fati: that one wants nothing to be different, not forward, not backward, not in all eternity. Not merely bear what is necessary, still less conceal it—all idealism is mendaciousness in the face of what is necessary—but love it.
Did this man of the mountains look at himself? This quote suggests so.
